Conditions related to electric use and explanation
during this time period are as follows:
1. The house is heated with a Rheem 2 1/2 ton heat
pump rated at 13.7 SEER (12 SEER unit with a high
efficiency air handler). Heated floor space is
approximately 2400 square feet, including the walk-out
basement which is fully conditioned.
2. Electrical cost is based on a cost of 6.5 cents per
kWh. Annual estimated heating cost based on this
test is estimated at $197.39 based on 5200 DHH, a
typical heating season for South Central Indiana. No
adjustments were made for electric use related to
lighting and power tool usage.
3. Electric consumption includes the cost of heating
the house, as well as other electric use including
running the air compressor, power tools, lights, etc.
4. The house was not occupied until 12-07, meaning
waste heat associated with living in the house is not
reducing this heating bill. Waste heat that reduces the
heating bill includes body heat from occupants, as
well as heat generated from lights, cooking, electric
appliances, etc.
5. The house temperature was maintained at 62
degrees F. Once the house is occupied, the
temperature will be increased to a temperature more
comfortable to a sedentary situation. 62 degrees F is
a comfortable working temperature, as the house is
still under construction.
6. The Degree Heating Days, or DHH, is for the
Bloomington, Indiana area. This data was recorded
